RACK ARMOUR REDUCES RACK DAMAGE BY 91%
The ACR Doncaster Regional Distribution Centre for B&Q was opened from new in 2004. The ACR management team were all familiar with the problem of damaged pallet racking and the inordinate amount of time, disruption and costs that go with it. They were determined to nip this in the bud from the very outset. They contacted The Rack Group seeking a proactive solution that was both truly effective, affordable and hassle free and so Rack Armour was chosen above all the rest.
The pallet racking on this huge site constitutes 7284 pallet racking upright, storing 42,000 pallet locations with 500,000 pallet movements per week. Even with a conservative estimate of only 5% racking upright damage per year, the total direct and indirect costs of repairing this level of damage would be in the range of £60,000 per year. Rack Armour was installed throughout the whole installation and in the first year only 14 front uprights required replacing due to very heavy impacts. So instead of an anticipated 182 uprights damaged (based on only 5%) the 14 uprights that were required represent a 91% saving.
